DIY Battery
So, while in preparation/planning for an upcoming endurance MTB event, I came across this little DIY project that I completed a couple of years ago. Nothing super complicated, but could be helpful information for anyone looking to salvage/upgrade their light system.

I remember you doing this, its pretty sweet. I didn't realize that you won a dork contest for it, did you spend your gift certificate yet? Question, do you know of you can buy a headlamp sans battery?
I believe you can check their website. You may want to look in to your EP price if you're thinking about purchasing one.
Worthwhile project when my battery goes bad (or I actually decide to do a race...at night...). I dig the vamped-up runtime.

Roger the night ridin' at the bluffs. I just figure my current rig (runtime of 2 1/2 hours with a backup) will work...and I second that you're just smarter than most.
